THE CINEMAS

Welcome to The Regent Theatre Te Awamutu! Established in 1932, The Regent is one of NZ's grand old cinemas. Today its 5 screens are equipped with the latest technology to provide a first-class movie-going experience.

Te Awamutu's cinema, the Regent Theatre, is renowned throughout the country for being one of a very small number of high-quality provincial cinemas.

The establishment features a combination of tasteful décor from bygone decades, combined an impressive collection of movie memorabilia, to take visitors back to the early days of New Zealand cinema.

The Regent Theatre has been in business since 1932 and was managed by movie enthusiast Allan Webb from 1974 to 2022. Mr. Webb QSM kindly donated the Theatre to the Te Awamutu community on the Regent’s 90th birthday on 1 April 2022.
